Finally Some Good Luck For Aspen Colorado

He’s a horse that relies on luck in his runs and lately Aspen Colorado has received plenty… all bad!

His last 3 runs have been painful to watch but thankfully today at Moonee Valley, the son of Sea The Moon managed to find good fortune and score an emphatic victory over the mile.

The result was definitely aided by a characteristic good ride from gun jock, Jamie Mott. He managed to get the 7yo into the 3 wide line but with a backside to follow so with the genuine tempo it was a matter of hooking out and savaging the line and he did that perfectly. He’s a horse that needs to be put away with nothing to think about and that can bring about his undoing when needing the right paths in races but today Jamie minimised the risk using his great judgement.

It was a thrill to enjoy success again with Jamie as Brad had a lot to do with him when apprenticed at Flemington. Jamie mentioned that Aspen Colorado was always travelling kindly and he was very condfident after the run they had in transit. He let down beautifully and was very strong over the concluding stages.

Congratulations to connections who have had to endure some frustrating watches but no doubt a Saturday win in town is a great redeemer.
